Artwork’s name:  Intersectionality

Description:

Once upon a time, these vastly different colors shone with pride on a canvas, lending beauty to the painting as a whole and to each individual part, even though orange and blue represent the greatest contrast. Even when they were torn apart, they were still beautiful side by side.
It was only when they were discriminated against—because some were too bright orange and others too somber blue, some too thick, others’ stripes far too narrow—and their origins were also different: The artist put some on paper because she let out a scream. Was it a cry for help? Was it out of happiness? It is not clear. And the origin of the others is also unclear: Did they come onto the canvas from memories of dark times or from quiet, contemplative moments? Regardless: Their origins were obviously very contrasting.
And now they have been intertwined and knotted by human hands and no longer look as beautiful as they actually are, because they were discriminated against: Because of their different nature, their appearance, their origins. You can see that they still possess pride, yet so much has been taken from them by this human-made intertwining and knotting. A rather ugly, broken tangle, whose original radiance one can still sense.
